Brenda Bellamy
began attending St James Cathedral in 1993 for the Friday evening Taizé
service while she was still active in the United Methodist Church.
She continued coming on Friday nights even as she became very active in
the Mennonite Church. Her pastor there, a Benedictine oblate,
introduced her to a Mennonite-Catholic dialogue group. In 2004,
she began RCIA here at St James Cathedral and in June of that year was
received into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church. She then
lived and volunteered with the Taizé Community in France for a year and
a half.
When Brenda returned to Seattle in 2007, she joined
the St James staff as a Weekday Sacristan and Liturgical Custodian – a
position she held for six years. In 2011, she joined the Faith
Formation department where she currently works full-time.
Brenda holds degrees from Seattle Pacific
University (BA Physics), the University of Washington (Master in
Teaching) and Seattle University (Master in Pastoral Studies). She
is also a commissioned Lay Ecclesial Minister in the Archdiocese of
Seattle.
Brenda is an avid reader, a lover of languages, an
urban bicyclist and a likes to play in the dirt.
