Register your child(ren) for the Fall 2024 semester!

Registration is ongoing throughout the semester. Fall semester runs from September through January, and Spring semester from February through June.

There is a $150 tuition fee assessed for each child per semester, and financial aid scholarships are available for all families with need. No one is turned away based on need. A 20% tuition discount is being given to all applications received by September 30, 2024.

Singers are not required to be Catholic or members of the parish—all are welcome to apply. All choristers must be prepared to sing at all scheduled liturgies, concerts, and attend all rehearsals to the best of their ability.

New choristers are requested to complete a short "meet and greet" interview by telephone or Zoom with Ms. Stacey Sunde, Director of the Youth Music Program before registering. To schedule an interview, call the Youth Music Office at 206-382-4876 or send an email to youthmusic@stjames-cathedral.org, and we will put you in touch with Ms. Sunde.

Do you have a child who loves to sing or wants to learn? Choral singing is not just about music – it builds social skills, community, friendships, and cooperation in addition to making music to the glory of God. St. James is proud to be home to a renowned youth music program.

Jubilate!, the Cathedral's ensemble for young women of high school age, usually sings at the noon Mass on the third Sunday of the month as well as various special liturgies and occasional Vespers. Jubilate! rehearses on Mondays from 4:45-6:45pm.

Fratres, meaning brothers, is a new ensemble the Cathedral is opening to all young men with changing and changed voices (middle school through high school). Fratres offers an engaging, creative, and safe space to make music at the highest level for the changing adolescent voice. Fratres rehearses on Mondays from 4:45-6:45pm. Ms. Stacey Sunde, Director of Youth Music; Mr. Jacob Malpocker, conductor.

The Schola Cantorum choir, for girls' and boys' unchanged treble voices in grades 3–8, provides the music at the noon "First Sunday Youth Celebrations," the 5:30 Christmas Eve Vigil, and various archepiscopal liturgies. Schola Cantorum rehearses on Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm. Ms. Stacey Sunde, conductor; Mrs. Emily Pontén-May, conductor.

The Seraphim Choir, a training choir for children grades 1–3, gives an opportunity for younger singers to gain valuable musicianship skills while being mentored by their older peers. Families are encouraged to attend First Sundays so Seraphs can observe choral responsibilities during mass while worshipping with their families. Twice a year, Seraphim Choir joins their peers in Youth Music Program choral celebrations. Seraphim Choir rehearses on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00pm. Ms. Angela Petrucci, conductor.
