Medieval Women's Choir – Deliverance

Our recent experience with the Covid epidemic leads us to contemplate how the people of medieval Europe viewed such events. The themes of intercession and deliverance are central to Christian thought, and deliverance from sin, from pestilence, from adversity and from hardship, especially through the intercession of the saints, commonly finds expression in the music of the time. Visions, miracles, and direct interventions from the heavenly realm were part of popular culture and, reflecting a deep spirituality, were never far from the lived experience of believers. They provided consolation in times of loss and the promise of a better future. Help us celebrate our own deliverance by exploring its musical expression from times long past.

Doors open at 7:30pm, and the Cathedral will be closed after the 5:30pm Mass for setup.

Tickets are $30 General Admission; Pay-as-you-can for Students, Veterans, and those in financial need; and free for St. James Cathedral parishioners. To reserve your seats, visit medievalwomenschoir.org.

Audience masking required; all singers are masked

The Cathedral will no longer require proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative test to attend a concert at St. James. The Medieval Women's Choir will require masks to be worn at all times during this concert.

Where to Enter
There are three Cathedral entrances with box offices for concerts:

- The Marion Street/Terry Avenue entrance is at the northeast corner of the Cathedral (nearest to O'Dea parking). This entrance is accessible to those with disabilities. The restrooms are located at this entrance.

- The Columbia Street/Courtyard entrance is on the south side of the Cathedral near the Chapel. Accessible via a ramp.

- The 9th Avenue entrance is on the west side of the Cathedral. This entrance is NOT accessible to those who use a wheelchair or have other mobility issues.

Parking Information
- The Cabrini Garage closes at 7:00pm and is NOT available for concert parking.

- Limited free parking (~65 spaces) is available in the O'Dea High School parking lot, entrances on Marion and Columbia Streets between Terry and Boren Avenues.

- Street parking is free after 8:00pm on Saturdays and all day Sundays.

- Accessible parking is available on the west side of Terry Avenue, between Marion and Columbia.

- There is a small pay lot across the street from the Cathedral on 9th Avenue and a larger pay lot at 711 Madison Street. If you park at a garage in the neighborhood, be sure to check the closing time.

Public Transportation
St. James Cathedral is within a few blocks of a number of bus lines and the First Hill Streetcar. The #60 bus stops directly in front on 9th Ave. To plan your trip, visit tripplanner.kingcounty.gov (or 206-553-3000), or maps.google.com and search for Terry Ave & Marion St, Seattle.
