POSTPONED: February 5 Gala Concert with music by Vivaldi and Corelli

We regretfully announce that our Gala Concert originally planned for New Year's Eve and rescheduled to February 5, 2022 must once again be postponed. With COVID infections from the Omicron variant on the decrease but still currently at around 5,000 new cases per day in King County, we feel that it would be unwise and not in the best interests of public health to present a choral concert until the transmission of Omicron has reached more reasonable levels. At this time (1/20/2022), the Public Health – Seattle & King County Covid-19 Summary Dashboard shows a High Level of Community Transmission, and we have no reason to believe that it will change by February 5.

The new concert date is to be announced after the threat from Omicron has passed, but it will not occur until after Easter.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through these bumps and obstacles preventing us from a full return to our live concert series.

We will be issuing refunds to all who have purchased tickets and offer our sincere apologies for any inconveniences. Thanks for your support of Music at St. James Cathedral, and let’s all hope that we can get back to normal soon!

Gala Concert for the end of the Christmas Season
Music by Vivaldi & Corelli
St. James Cathedral Cantorei with Baroque Chamber Orchestra
conducted by Joseph Adam

We've rescheduled our New Year's Eve concert to February 5. If you purchased tickets for 12/31, they will be honored for the 2/5 concert. If you purchased tickets and can't make it on 2/5, contact us for a refund.

While we in the United States generally consider Epiphany to be the end of Christmas and its twelve days, many other Christian traditions celebrate forty days of Christmas, ending with Candlemas, or the Feast of the Presentation, on February 2. We mark the end of that longer Christmas Season with the music of Baroque composers Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli. The beauty and power of the voices of the St. James Cathedral Cantorei join period Baroque chamber orchestra in Vivaldi's Magnificat and Gloria, and the orchestral strings sparkle in Corelli's Christmas Concerto. $30 suggested donation ($15 students & seniors) or pay what you can. Purchase of tickets in advance offers prime seating within a reserved section.

For more information, contact the Cathedral music office at musicoffice@stjames-cathedral.org or 206-382-4874.
