The 10:00 Mass begins at the O'Dea Gym. Hundreds gather with
their palms and await the great procession to the Cathedral.
Special thanks to O'Dea High School for the use of their gym each
year for our celebration.

The solemn Mass of Palm Sunday begins with the proclamation of the
Gospel of the entry into Jerusalem. "Let us go forth in peace,
praising Jesus our Messiah, as did the crowds who welcomed him to
Jerusalem."

Cathedral piper Tyrone Heade and the Cathedral choir lead the
procession of the faithful.

Seattleites cannot be deterred by a little rain and wind. The
Palm Sunday procession is always a joyful occasion.

The faithful (including the Elect to be baptized at the Great Easter
Vigil) join in singing "Hosanna!"

At the Noon Mass the blessing of palms takes place at the font,
surrounded by the youth elect who will be baptized at the Easter
Vigil.

The children's choirs sing during the blessing of palms. "The
children of Jerusalem welcomed Christ the King. They spread
their cloaks before him and loudly praised the Lord: Hosanna
to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of
the Lord!" |
