Day 7
We pray for the Spirit s gift of reverence. With the gift of
reverence, sometimes called piety, we have a deep sense of respect for
God and the Church. A person with reverence recognizes his or her total
reliance on God and comes before God with humility, trust, and love.
Piety is the gift whereby we pay worship and duty to God as our Father.
Come to the Church, and teach us to reverence God in the Church and
in all her members, we pray:
come, Holy Spirit!
Come to this Archdiocese of Seattle as we await the appointment of a new
Archbishop. Fill our new shepherd and all of us with your gift of
piety and reverence. We pray:
come, Holy Spirit!
Come to the elderly and dying, and show them the goodness and mercy of
God, we pray:
come, Holy Spirit!
Come upon all of us, and open our hearts and minds
to receive your gifts, we pray:
come, Holy Spirit!
Novena Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit!
Come to the Church in our time of need:
Heal, cleanse, and renew us.
Raise up for us prophetic leaders,
humble, compassionate shepherds,
with wisdom to read the signs of the times
in the light of the Gospel.
Come to our world,
and teach us to reverence the earth
and all of creation.
Come to our hearts,
and fill us with your gifts,
that we may live the faith we profess
and commit ourselves anew
to the Gospel of Christ.
Come, Holy Spirit,
with the wind and fire
of a new Pentecost.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
You send forth your Spirit, and they are created:
and you will renew the face of the earth.
