Almighty God,
from whom all thoughts
of truth and peace proceed;
be with those who mourn and those who suffer
in the wake of the terrorist attacks in London;
be a comfort to all who worry and wait
for news of friends and family;
guide and strengthen those who are working
to respond to this emergency;
turn the hearts and minds of all your people
towards a vision of your heavenly kingdom,
where with the Spirit and the Prince of Peace,
you reign, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer at Westminster Abbey, London
7 July 2005
Most merciful and loving Father, who hate not any of the
things which thou hast made, we beseech thee most humbly, even with
our hearts, to pour out upon our enemies with bountiful hands
whatsoever things thou knowest may do them good, and chiefly that
they may know thee and seek thee in true charity and with their
whole heart, and love us, thy children, for thy sake. Destroy them
not, O Father, for their hatred towards us, but save them at our
entreaty for them.
