Sunday, November 30, 2014. We began the beautiful
season of Advent with the traditional lighting of the Advent wreath.
Thursday, November 27, 2014. At the beautiful Mass
of Thanksgiving Day, hundreds brought gifts of non-perishable food items to
share with the poor and needy. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thursday, November 13, 2014. Archbishop Sartain
offered the 5:30pm Mass in memory of the homeless men, women, and children who
died on the streets of our city in the past year. Hundreds gathered in the
courtyard following mass for the tolling of the Cathedral bell and the reading
of the names of those who died.

Sunday, November 2, 2014. The Cathedral Choir and
Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. James Savage, performed Faure's
sublime Requiem during the solemn Mass of All Souls.
Sunday, October 5, 2014. It was a joy to have the
children of the youth choirs at the First Sunday Youth Celebration at the Noon
Mass.
Sunday, September 28, 2014. At the Noon Mass,
Father Ryan offered a special blessing for the young people who have committed
to be mentors for special needs children in the coming year.
Saturday, September 6, 2014. Two young men, Brian Thompson and
Dean Mbuzi, were ordained priests for service in the Archdiocese of Seattle.

Thursday, September 4, 2014. The
Choir returned after its summer hiatus for a an evening of celebration,
rehearsal, and retreat. We welcomed back cantor Dan Jinguji, who came close to
death this summer with pneumonia, but is back thanks to the power of prayer.

Wednesday, September 3, 2014. We
celebrated the Mass oft he Holy Spirit with O'Dea High School student body and
staff as they launch a new school year.
Sunday, August 24, 2014. We celebrated the Sacrament of
Baptism for thirteen beautiful children.
August 11-17, 2014. Our annual Schola Cantorum Choir Camp
brought forty young people to the Cathedral for a week of prayer, service, and

the Greater, with special festivity at Mass and with a picnic after the 10:00am
and Noon Masses.

Saturday, June 14, 2014. We celebrated the Seattle University
Baccalaureate Mass with faculty, family and friends of the Class of 2014. Ad

Sunday, June 8, 2014. PENTECOST.
In union with Pope Francis, who today prayed with the Presidents of Israel and
Palestine at the Vatican, we were honored to welcome Rabbi Daniel Weiner and
Jamal Rahman, who joined Father Ryan in a moment of prayer for peace at the
10:00am Mass. Lord, make us instruments of your peace!

children were baptized at the 10:00am Mass.
Saturday, May 31, 2014. We celebrated the traditional "Emblem
Sunday" Mass in the Cathedral with scouts from around the Archdiocese of
Seattle.
Thursday, May 29, 2014. Twenty-one young people and adults

Mass of Father Michael J. Ryan, a beloved priest and pastor.

the Baccalaureate of Seattle Prep.

they leave Seattle after ninety-one years of service.

First Holy Communion today.

Saturday, May 10, 2014. Father Ryan gathered with friends and
family of the Robl family for the blessing of the new Robl organ in the
Cathedral Chapel. The following inscription was placed on the organ: "This
organ, a labor of love and genius, was built by Cathedral parishioner Frank Robl
for his home. After Frank’s death in 2013, his wife, Carol, and children Frank,
Jr., Chris, and Andrea, generously presented it to St. James Cathedral in his
memory. It was installed in the Cathedral Chapel in February, 2014, with the
help of Frank’s son Chris. May its beautiful voice give glory to God and inspire
all who hear it in the same way that Frank inspired all who knew him."
Monday, May 5, 2014. On the feast of Blessed Edmund Ignatius
Rice, the O'Dea High School Community gathered for a special Mass with
Archbishop Sartain to celebrate the gifts the Christian Brothers have brought to
O'Dea over the past ninety-one years.
Sunday, April 27, 2014. On this historic day when Pope Francis
canonized John XXIII and John Paul II, we welcomed into the Church nine
beautiful infants!

Sunday, January 19, 2014. We celebrated a special Mass in
honor of the Santo Nino, the Holy Child Jesus. Dozens of parishioners brought
images of the child Jesus from home for the blessing.
