Thursday, November 8, 2012. At the annual Mass for the
Deceased Homeless, we gather in the courtyard as the Cathedral's great bell is
tolled 57 times for the fifty-seven men and women who died on our streets in the

Sunday, November 4, 2012. At the conclusion of the Noon
Mass, we bade farewell to Marianne Cote, who is retiring after more than
thirty-four years at St. James Cathedral.

beautiful children at the 10:00am Mass.

We celebrated the Solemnity of All Souls with a special Mass at 7:30pm, during
which the Cathedral Choir and chamber orchestra performed Mozart's sublime

dedicated to prayer for the healing of our city in the wake of the terrible

Wednesday, May 30, 2012. We celebrated the 87th Annual
Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation with the Class of 2012 of O'Dea High School.
Congratulations, gentlemen--especially our own parishioners Francisco Montague
and Justin Phillips!

Rite of Reception with four wonderful people.
Thursday, May 24, 2012. We celebrated the Holy Names
Academy Baccalaureate with one hundred and fifty-nine bright, motivated, and
faith-filled members of the Class of 2012. Congratulations, graduates!
Sunday, May 20, 2012. The children of the parish prayed the
rosary following the Noon Mass. The rosary procession concluded with the
crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Sunday, May 20, 2012. St. James Cathedral was privileged to
host a beautiful icon of Christ’s Resurrection. The icon, written by Yakov
Prokofiev of St. Petersburg, was commissioned by the St. Petersburg Seattle
Sister Churches Board to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their program, which
encourages friendly relations between churches in Seattle and St. Petersburg.
The icon was blessed by Metropolitan Vladimir and brought to Seattle in the
summer of 2011. During this Easter Season, it has traveled around the Pacific
Northwest to churches of many Christian denominations. Special thanks to Jane
and Dick Carter for making the icon available to St. James.
Monday, May 14, 2012. A unique moment in the life of the
Cathedral parish: our parishioner Jerry Cronkhite professes vows as a hermit.
Jerry will live a life of poverty, chastity and obedience in the world.
Saturday, May 12, 2012. Archbishop Sartain confirmed
twenty-one of our young people and adults at the 5:30pm Mass.

those preparing for baptism at the great Easter Vigil are introduced to the
Archbishop and record their names in the Book of the Elect.
Sunday, February 19, 2012. Three wonderful people made
their Profession of Faith and were received into Full Communion.
Sunday, February 19, 2012. On the last Sunday before Lent
began, the children of the parish participated in a special "Farewell to the
Alleluia" at the Noon Mass.
Sunday, February 5, 2012. At our First Sunday Youth
Celebration, children carry lighted candles in the entrance procession.
The candles were blessed on February 2, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.
Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Father Ryan preached at the
annual Countywide Observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
This year, the celebration was held at the First AME Church in Seattle.

baptism at the Noon Mass, Father Ryan invites children to come gather around the

Saturday, January 21, 2012. We celebrated our annual Mass
to remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and to give thanks for the presence of
African American and African Catholics in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
