Monday, December 21, 2009. We celebrated the vigil
of the Solemnity of the Dedication of the Cathedral. The Cathedral
was dedicated by Bishop Edward J. O'Dea on December 22, 1907, 102
years ago today.

Friday, December 18, 2009. Today Archbishop
Brunett gathered with the Chancery staff for a Mass celebrating his
12th Anniversary of Installation as Archbishop of Seattle.

on Thanksgiving Day, we bring gifts of food for the poor and place
them around the altar at offertory time.

Sunday, November 22, 2009. We celebrate the
Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King.

Monday, November 9, 2009. At the conclusion of our
annual Mass for the Deceased Homeless, we gather in the courtyard as
the tower bell is tolled 85 times in remembrance of the men, women,
and children who died homeless in King County this year.

and Anna Horton, married in the Cathedral this past July, share

Saturday, September 26, 2009. Our E.M.s, Ushers,
Servers, and Readers gathered for their annual liturgy day.

Thursday, September 10, 2009. The Cathedral Choir
gathered for their annual retreat. They will return in all their
glory at the 10:00am Mass this Sunday.

Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Father Ryan offered
Mass with the O'Dea High School community as they began their new
school year.

August 10-14, 2009. Our annual Choir Camp brought
children together for prayer, fun, and above all--music. Click

Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A large group of
pilgrims, walking for Immigration Reform from Bellingham to Tacoma,
joined us for the 5:30pm Mass.

celebrate our patronal feast day with solemn Mass in honor of James,
followed by our annual parish picnic.

presided at a special Mass in honor of his 25th anniversary of
ordination to the priesthood.

Saturday, July 18, 2009. We celebrated the wedding
of Anna Horton and David Unger. Anna and David met at the
Cathedral, where both are actively involved in many ministries.

Thursday, July 16, 2009. We celebrated the Funeral
Mass of our much-loved Deacon Joseph R. Curtis. Click

Saturday, June 27, 2009. At the funeral Mass for
Linda Condes, our longtime coordinator of Extraordinary Ministers of
Holy Communion, more than 80 "EMs" formed an honor guard in the west
aisle.

Friday, June 26, 2009. We celebrated the Mass for
Deceased Bishops on the 12th Anniversary of the death of Archbishop
Murphy.

Sunday, June 14, 2009. A memorable day for St.
James Cathedral: Father Todd Strange who came into the Church
through the St. James RCIA and was baptized at the Cathedral in
2001, offered his Mass of Thanksgiving. Click

for Holy Names Academy this afternoon. Our own parishioner Siobhan
Corrigan received the Holy Names Award for outstanding service to

Wednesday, May 27, 2009. In the evening, the 84th annual
Baccalaureate of O'Dea High School was held at St. James Cathedral.

Sunday, May 24, 2009. After the Noon Mass, the children of the
parish led a rosary procession, which concluded with a crowning of
Mary in the Cathedral Courtyard.

On Saturday, May 23, 2009, Bishop Elizondo
celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with more than 30 young
people and adults.

Thursday, February 26, 2009. Our catechumens celebrated the
Rite of the Election in the Cathedral. At this Rite, they meet the
Archbishop and are enrolled in the Book of the Elect.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Father Ryan imposes ashes on
Father Tom Marti on Ash Wednesday.

Monday, February 23, 2009. Today, ten new Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion were commissioned.

Sunday, February 19, 2009. At the 10:00am Mass, we welcomed
nine people into the Full Communion of the Catholic Church.

Friday, February 13, 2009. We were privileged to welcome
ministers from downtown churches of many denominations to our weekly
Taizé Prayer around the Cross.

Wednesday, February 11, 2009. On this Feast of Our Lady of
Lourdes, the World Day of Prayer for the Sick, we celebrated the
sacrament of the anointing of the sick.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009. We mark the feast of St. Blase, the
4th-century bishop and martyr, with a special blessing of the
throats. The blessing recalls an incident in the life of the martyr
when he saved a boy who was choking to death.

Monday, February 2, 2009. The Feast of the Presentation of the
Lord. Exactly 40 days after Christmas, we celebrate a feast in
honor of Christ's presentation in the Temple. The Mass begins with a
blessing of candles.

Sunday, February 1, 2009. At our First Sunday Youth
Celebration, children join in the procession with lighted candles,
anticipating tomorrow's Feast of the Presentation.

Saturday, January 31, 2009. Children celebrate First
Reconciliation.

Sunday, January 25, 2009. On the feast of the Conversion of
St. Paul, children carried hand-made icons in the procession. We
welcomed Father John Endres, SJ, as our guest preacher.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009. The Countywide Prayer for
Christian Unity was held in the Cathedral.

Sunday, January 18, 2009. Our annual celebration of the Santo
Nino--Holy Child took place at the Noon Mass.

Saturday, January 17, 2009. Archbishop Brunett presided at a
special celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Saturday, January 10, 2009. Tom McMichael, formerly a Lutheran
minister, was ordained to the priesthood.

Sunday, January 4, 2009. We celebrated the great feast of the
Epiphany.
