My name is James. My brother John and I were fishermen until we became apostles. I remember the first time I saw Jesus. I was working in my boat, mending my fishing nets, and he said, "come after me, and I will make you a fisher of men." I dropped my nets and followed Jesus. I've never looked back! In art, I'm usually shown as a pilgrim, with my staff (walking stick) and my gourd (to carry water in).
