Safe Environment Policy
St. James follows the Archdiocesan policy on Safe Environment by offering
classes to all parishioners (Safe Environment for Families) and for all
volunteers who work with children and vulnerable adults (Safe Environment for
Ministries). All volunteers in Children’s Faith Formation, Children’s RCIA,
and Sacramental Preparation 2 are REQUIRED to take Safe Environment for
Ministries and to maintain their training by taking an online refresher course
every year they are in active ministry. Our volunteers must also submit to
a background check, which is re-checked every 3 years.
As Catholics, we believe that every life is sacred. Each person is created in
the image and likeness of our loving God. Violence, anger and abuse of any kind
are unacceptable, and we take our responsibility to work for the end of all
violence seriously.
As parents of “our children”, we must act together to be vigilant about
protecting our young. We invite you to take Safe Environment for Families
to help you train your child(ren) how to recognize potential danger and to learn
who are “safe” adults.
