SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR UKRAINE AND THE CHURCH IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE

The US Bishops throughout the country are taking up a special collection in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The USCCB is uniquely positioned to provide aid to the region, having built strong relationships with Catholic bishops there these last 30 years, and having given so much assistance in the development of the Church’s capacity to respond to pastoral and social needs. A robust response at this moment will allow the Church in the U.S. to continue to be a strong partner to give critical and timely humanitarian aid now for Ukraine.

We pray for peace in Russia and Ukraine

We fly to your protection, O holy Mother of God.
Despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O glorious and blessed Virgin.

Sub tuum praesidium, an ancient prayer to the Virgin

O God, author and lover of peace,
we pray for the people of Russia and Ukraine.
May their leaders step back from the brink of war.
May disputes be resolved
through diplomacy and dialogue,
and may peace prevail among all nations.
We pray through Jesus Christ, who is our peace,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever. Amen.
