On June 6, Archbishop Etienne ordained Thomas Tran to the priesthood. Because of the restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19, only a handful of people could be present, but thousands joined in via livestream! You can read Archbishop's homily here. "Do you promise respect and obedience to me and my successors?" "I do." "May God, who has begun the good work in you, bring it to fulfillment." As the Litany of Saints is sung, the ordinand prostrates himself before the altar. The laying on of hands is the heart of the Ordination Rite. The Prayer of Ordination The Archbishop anoints Father Tran's hands with Sacred Chrism. For the first time, Father Tran takes part in the Eucharistic Prayer.
