Listen to the Lament, written and read by Cathedral moms

Listen to Archbishop Sartain's homily

On Thursday, October 4, Archbishop Sartain, joined by the auxiliary bishops, led a Prayer of Repentance and Healing in the wake of the abuse crisis. The service began in silent prayer before the altar.

Mothers from the Cathedral Parish wrote and read a lament in response to the abuse crisis.
Their reflections were paired with verses from Psalm 77.

"I pray that the Church, all of us, will realize that this is our moment.
If we can find a way to reveal, heal, and move forward with justice and mercy,
the Church can be a model of light for our broken world."

Archbishop Sartain preached at the service.

At the end of the service, the bishops paused to pray before the cross
and place prayer intentions in the basket at the foot of the cross.

Pray the Novena Prayer here.
