On Saturday, June 9, 2018, three young men were ordained to the
priesthood for service in the Archdiocese of Seattle. From left to
right: Father Louis Cunningham, Father Anh Tran, Father Bryan Dolejsi,
Director of Vocations, and Father Justin Ryan.
Lined up in the vestibule as the Mass is about to begin.
After the proclamation of the Gospel, the three candidates are called
forth from the assembly. Each makes a promise of obedience to the
Archbishop and his successors.
The three candidates prostrate themselves before the altar as the entire
assembly chants the Litany of Saints.
The heart of the ordination rite: the laying on of hands.
All the bishops and clergy present join in the laying on of hands.
The new priests are vested in the stole and chasuble for the first time.
Each is assisted by priest mentors.
The hands of the newly ordained are anointed with sacred chrism.
Assisting at Mass were many young men who, God willing, will be ordained
priests in the coming years.
