The Archdiocese of Seattle is wonderfully diverse. Today, the Feast of
St. Martin de Porres, we celebrated our diversity as people
representing dozens of different ethnic and cultural communities came
together in the Cathedral for the first annual "Celebration of All Our
Saints." Members of the Kenya (Swahili) American community carry an
image of St. Josephine Bakhita....
...the Filipino community honors San Lorenzo Ruiz...
...and San Pedro Calungsod.
Children from the Hispanic community honor the newest saint--San Oscar
Romero!
Polish Americans carry images of St John Paul II, St. Faustina Kowalska,
and St. Maximilian Kolbe.
Young people from the Samoan community join the procession as well.
Young singers from the Samoan Catholic Community provide the music for
the Mass.
Priests from across the Archdiocese concelebrate the Mass with the
Archbishop and auxiliary bishops. Their diversity reflects the diversity of the
communities they serve.
Members of the Samoan community provide leis for the leaders of the
liturgy.
The gifts of bread and wine are presented by people representing five different
continents.
Saint Martin de Porres, pray for us!
