In the darkness of Holy Saturday, a new fire is kindled. This blessed flame will become the sign of the risen Christ.

The Paschal Candle is the only light in the darkened Cathedral, and then, gradually, light is spread from the Easter candle to every member of the assembly.

Father Ryan chants the Exsultet, the Church's song of praise of Christ, risen from the dead.
"This is the night!"

"The sanctifying power of this night dispels wickedness, washes faults away, restores innocence
to the fallen, and joy to mourners."

"This night shall be as bright as day, dazzling is the night for me, and full of gladness."

"...a fire into many flames divided, yet never dimmed by sharing of its light..."

"May this flame be found still burning by the Morning Star..."

Archbishop introduces the Liturgy of the Word: "Now that we have begun our solemn Vigil, let us listen with quiet hearts to the Word of God."

After the homily, the Rite of Baptism begins. Our four Elect are called forward.

After months (or years!) of preparation, they renounce sin and profess their faith in the Triune God.

"I baptize you..."

"...in the name of the Father..."

"...and of the Son..."

"...and of the Holy Spirit."

The newly-baptized re-enter the Cathedral, clothed in white robes which symbolize their new life in Christ.

"Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."

The neophytes share the light they have received with the entire assembly.

Congratulations to the newly-baptized. "Keep the flame of faith alive in your hearts, and when the Lord comes may you go out to meet him with all the saints..."

Joined by their sponsors and the RCIA Team. Thank you for accompanying our neophytes to this blessed moment in their lives!

A glorious Easter Sunday morning. One of our youth readers carries the Book of the Gospels.

Altar servers surround the ambo for the proclamation of the Book of the Gospels.

The Rite of Sprinkling

The Cathedral Choir joins the procession at the Noon Mass.

Have a blessed and joyful Easter!
