First Communion day!  As the children gather, there's excitement, chatter... and a few nerves!

Many of the children wear white, a reminder of the white baptismal garment.

The procession is about to begin!

Hands folded in prayer during the entrance procession...

...joy and excitement as they prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.

Father Ryan spoke directly to the children during the  homily, reminding them that each of them is a special child of God, called by name!

The lighting of candles is another reminder of the day of baptism.

This is what it is all about:  participating fully, along with their families and their parish families,
at the altar of the Lord.

For the first time the children come forward to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

We pray that these children will come back to the table of the Lord throughout their lives, so that this great sacrament can nourish them as they grow in grace and wisdom.

"The Body of Christ."  "Amen!"

A happy little sister at the end of Mass!

Congratulations, First Communicants!  And a special thank-you to your parents, teachers, mentors, and friends, who helped you prepare for this joyful day.
