On Thursday, March 17, 2016, hundreds gather for the Chrism Mass, during which Archbishop Sartain blesses the oils for use in sacramental celebrations throughout the coming year.

During the Mass, the priests present recommit themselvs to the promises they made
on the day of their priestly ordination.

The oils are carried in procession, led by the Year of Mercy banner.

The Oil for the Sacred Chrism and the essence for the Sacred Chrism are carried
by a confirmation candidate and her sponsor.

A young family brings up the gifts of bread and wine.

After Mass, Deacons of the Archdiocese distribute the oils.
