Each year, the solemn procession of palms takes place at the 10:00am Mass of Palm Sunday.
We are grateful to O'Dea High School for allowing us to begin this celebration in the Bishop Gill Gymnasium each year.

The blessing of palm branches recalls the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and for centuries has been a beloved part of the Catholic tradition.

The Cathedral Choir of St. James leads us in song in the gym and all along the way.

"All glory, laud, and honor to you, Redeemer King!"

Archbishop Sartain presided at the Mass.

"Sanctify these branches with your blessing, that we, who follow Christ the King in exultation,
may reach the eternal Jerusalem through him."

"Hosanna in excelsis!"

"Let us go forth in peace, praising Jesus our Messiah,
as did the crowds who welcomed him to Jerusalem."

The Elect, preparing for baptism at the Easter Vigil, join in the procession.  Their baptism in Christ is now less than a week away.

At the Noon Mass, the children of the Youth Music Program sing, "the Hebrew children, carrying branches of palms in the hands, cried aloud: Hosanna in the highest."

Many children (with their parents!) joined the procession.
