At the annual Chrism Mass, the Archbishop blesses and consecrates the oils to be
used in sacramental celebrations this Easter and throughout the coming year.
The Chrism Mass also recalls the institution of the priesthood, as the priests
of the Archdiocese of Seattle renew their commitment to priestly service.
The children of the Youth Music Program provided the music for this year's
Chrism Mass.

(right) carry the oil for the Sacred Chrism and the sweet-smelling balsam
essence which is added to it.
