On Sunday, September 22, we welcomed the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre,
a Catholic organization which supports the Church's work in the Holy Land.
The Order of the Holy Sepulchre has its roots in the Middle Ages. Their
liturgies are full of tradition... and pageantry!
Visiting priests and bishops gather in the vestibule.
During the Mass, new members, both "ladies" and "knights," are inducted into the
Order of the Holy Sepulchre.
Retired Archbishop Niederauer of San Francisco celebrated the Mass.
The new knights are dubbed with a sword, like the knights of old.
After being dubbed, the new members are robed in the garb of the Order.
Congratulations to the new members of the Order. May God bless your work
in the Holy Land.
