Each year, on the Sunday closest to July 25, we celebrate the Feast of St.
James, our patron,
with solemn liturgies and a parish picnic on Terry Avenue.
Something special this year: participants in Camino Seattle joined the
procession out and lined
up to get their passports stamped for the last time. (Photo by Stephen Pace)
Those who completed their personal walking and prayer goals for the Camino
received a special certificate, not unlike the "compostela" awarded to those who
complete the Camino to Santiago de Compostela, Spain!
Everyone loves a bouncy castle... but some people really love a bouncy
castle.
At the Noon Mass, children join the procession following the image of St. James,
carrying special streamers.
Thank you to all the volunteers who kept an eye on the bouncy toys, made cotton
candy, grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, and kept the buns, condiments, and bingo
going all afternoon.
There were ice cream bars...
...and painted butterflies...
...or sharks.

Edward was very happy to be part of the festivities.

Scrambling for candy from the pinata!
Sophia loved her first picnic--and her first taste of cotton candy.

Happy Feast Day, everyone! And a special thank you to Stephen Pace and
Trent Mummery,
who coordinated the picnic again this year.
