On Sunday, January 16, we celebrate the annual feast of the
Santo Niño, the Holy Child Jesus. Many brought their images from home for
the blessing.
The image of Jesus as the Santo Niño - a child, and yet a
king - is beloved around the world, from Prague to the Philippines!
In the entrance, children carry roses to honor the Santo
Niño.
The children offer their flowers to the Child Jesus.
At the conclusion of Mass, the servers lead the way to Cathedral Place Hall,
where the celebration continues with a wonderful fiesta.
"Viva, Santo Niño!" We are grateful to the Fil-Am
Choir, directed by Carmen Pelayre, for bringing the gift of music to this
celebration each year.
In the Hall, the parish was treated to a wonderful Filipino feast, and our
talented youth servers provided the entertainment with music and dance.
The dancing of the tinikling is the grand finale of the fiesta.
Thank you to all the Friends of
Santo Niño who make this celebration a wonderful gift to our parish
community!
