Holy Saturday. Immediately following Morning Praise, preparations
begin for the great Easter Vigil. Debe Meder (left) and her team
arrange hundreds of tulips, hydrangeas, and above all, Easter lilies,
for the altar decorations.

Meanwhile, the dedicated members of the Cathedral Guild do everything
from readying the tapers for the assembly at the Vigil and cleaning the
votive candle glasses...

...to polishing the Paschal candlestand!

Each year, the multi-talented Joseph Adam, Cathedral Organist, prepares
the Paschal candle.

Sacristan Brenda Bellamy engineered the hanging of eight gold banners,
created by Kitty Kavanaugh and based on the art of Gustav Klimt.

The sponsors of our fifteen Elect gather at the font for a rehearsal on
Saturday morning. Helen Oesterle, Director of Religious Education,
walks them through what will happen in the Liturgy of Baptism later
tonight.

Towels for the newly-baptized are counted and stacked in the South
Sacristy.

Detailed checklists help the sacristans not to miss any important
details. A special thank you to all the volunteers who
helped make the Cathedral beautiful for Easter!

At 7:00pm, the Masters of Ceremonies meet to talk through the
complexities of the Easter Vigil liturgy.

For the second year in a row, the Easter Vigil at St. James was
broadcast live, worldwide, on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
