The Great Easter Vigil begins with the blessing of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle.  www.photobymike.com Led by the candle which represents the light of the risen Christ, we enter the darkened Cathedral.   www.photobymike.com The one flame becomes many as the new fire is spread to all in the assembly.   www.photobymike.com During the liturgy of the word, the Archbishop leads us in prayer.   www.photobymike.com During the Gloria the Cathedral is illuminated.  In the solemn Gospel procession, the Gospel book is carried through the Cathedral.   www.photobymike.com Proclaiming the good news of the Resurrection:  "Why do you seek the living one among the dead?"   www.photobymike.com  www.photobymike.com After the homily, the liturgy of baptism begins.  One by one, the twenty-five Elect are led down into the font.   www.photobymike.com  www.photobymike.com www.photobymike.com www.photobymike.com www.photobymike.com After the baptisms, the Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated.  www.photobymike.com www.photobymike.com Now the entire assembly renews their baptismal promises and is sprinkled with the newly blessed water.  www.photobymike.com Congratulations to our neophytes!  www.photobymike.com www.photobymike.com
