WELCOME, VISITORS! If you are a visitor to the Cathedral, we want you to know how welcome you are – whether you have come from another part of the country, from across the world, or simply from another parish here in the Archdiocese. For more information about the parish, to register, or to ask a question, visit our Sunday Help Desk at Coffee Hour. A Cathedral staff person will be on hand to assist you. Be sure to stop by the Cathedral Bookstore after Mass for a wide selection of Cathedral souvenirs as well as Catholic books and gifts.

FOR YOUR SAFETY. At each of the weekend Masses a Seattle police officer is present on the Cathedral campus.

ON THE COVER. Adam and Eve expelled from Eden. Detail from the Ceremonial Bronze Doors, St. James Cathedral. Ulrich Henn, artist.

FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR are offered by the Archdiocese of Seattle in thanksgiving to God for our newly ordained priests, Father Ahn Tran, Father Justin Ryan, and Father Louis Cunningham. Flowers at the north transept shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary are in honor of Linda Vacca on her 75th birthday, from her loving family.

OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY TABLE. Today after the 10:00am Mass, a number of social outreach and advocacy ministries will be at Coffee Hour to share updates on their work and invite you to participate. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about how the Cathedral reaches out to our community, and how you can take action.

CELEBRATION OF MINISTRIES DINNER. Thursday, June 14 at 7:00pm in Cathedral Hall. ST VINCENT DE PAUL INVITES YOU to stop by our table during Coffee Hour after the 10:00am Mass this Sunday to learn more about our outreach ministry. And if you cannot stop by our table, please contact Bob Clifford at 206-718-4158.

A WEEKLY TIP ON CARING FOR OUR COMMON HOME. Be energy efficient. During this summer, close your curtains and/or blinds to block heat from the sun. This simple step can significantly reduce the need for air conditioning, which is likely one of the most energy-intensive aspects of your home.

SAVE THE DATE! – SENIOR SUMMER SOCIAL. Mark your calendar for an afternoon of entertainment, refreshments and socialization with fellow fun-loving seniors. Parishioner Selina Chu will keep us humming, singing and toe-tapping with beloved Broadway tunes, and the greatest pop hits of the 40s & 50’s. Wednesday, July 18, Pastoral Outreach Center, 1pm–3pm. RVSP requested by July 12 to Jane Mueller in the parish office, 206-622-3559.

CATHOLIC-MUSLIM DINNER. St. James Immigrant Assistance will be hosting a dinner with the Eat With Muslims group (www.eatwithmuslims.org) on Saturday, July 21 from 5–8 pm. Come join us for some delicious food and get to know our Muslim neighbors. Free event but space is limited and an RSVP is required. RSVP and information, Christopher Koehler at 206-382-4511.

BABYSITTING is available for children up to four years of age on Sundays during the 10:00am and Noon Masses, during baptism preparation classes, and during special events for parents and families. That’s 175 children who know at least one more person who loves God and the Church. Called to volunteer for the 2018-2019 year? Openings in select classes. Training and materials provided. Information, Brenda Bellamy, 206-274-3108\.

REPORT FROM CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES. “We are incredibly grateful for your support of the Hunthausen Fund and the Solanus Casey Center and our ongoing partnership with St. James. The Hunthausen Fund has helped 13 families (18 adults and 16 children) move from homelessness to housing so far this year. The funds you provide allow us to serve up to three families per month. The Solanus Casey Center continues to welcome a steady stream of folks in need of assistance and the funds provided by St. James will increase their capacity to help. Thank you again for your support and dedication to our shared mission!”

PARISH REMEMBRANCE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we pray for the parishes of St. Anthony in Renton and Immaculate Heart of Mary in Sedro Woolley and Kelso, and the mission church of St. Anthony in Carnation.
