WELCOME,VISITORS! If you are a visitor to the Cathedral, we want you to know how welcome you are – whether you have come from another part of the country, from across the world, or simply from another parish here in the Archdiocese. For more information about the parish, to register, or to ask a question, visit our Sunday Help Desk at Coffee Hour. A Cathedral staff person will be on hand to assist you. Be sure to stop by the Cathedral Bookstore after Mass for a wide selection of Cathedral souvenirs as well as Catholic books and gifts.

FOR YOUR SAFETY. At each of the weekend Masses a Seattle police officer is present on the Cathedral campus.

ON THE COVER Icon of the Transfiguration of the Lord. Joan Brand-Landkamer, Cathedral iconographer.

NO CONTEMPLATIVE TAIZÉ PRAYER ON MARCH 2. Because our musicians will be away on the parish pilgrimage, there will be no Taizé prayer or Young Adult Simple Supper on Friday, March 2. Instead, there will be an hour of silent adoration from 6pm-7pm, following the 5:30pm Friday Mass.

LET YOUR KIDS CATCH YOU PRAYING! Parents’ Faith Formation (PFF) begins again this Sunday, February 25. Join other parents for a discussion around Lenten prayer in your home. Meets from 11:05–11:40 in Room 206 of O’Dea High School. Information, Rosanne Michaels, 206-654-4659.

VAN DRIVER NEEDED. Our Sunday van ministry is an important outreach to senior parishioners who would not be able to get to 10:00am Mass on Sunday if it weren’t for our drivers. It’s a simple but important way to reach out to some of our senior parishioners! Right now we have a need for several drivers, each to cover one Sunday a month. Openings are currently on the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays. All training provided; background check required. Information, Maria Laughlin, 206-382-4284.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL THANKS YOU for helping some residents of our parish pay rents that escalate faster than their income. In last week’s bulletin, we reported that in the past 12 months we helped more than 900 people. That included helping over 500 people with rent – many at serious risk of eviction. Out of every dollar you give us, we now spend over 70 cents just on rent. A few years ago, rents we typically helped with were seldom above $800 a month. Now we regularly see rents of $1200 to $1800 monthly, and more people who used to be called “middle class” are turning to SVdP for emergency assistance. Plus, we continue to help low or no income individuals and families who struggle to pay much lower rents in subsidized housing. Whether you donate online or in the special collection the ushers (thank you, ushers!) take for SVdP, most of your dollars help keep roofs over the heads of hundreds of our neighbors every year – thank you! Information, Bob Clifford, 206-718-4158.

A WEEKLY TIP ON CARING FOR OUR COMMON HOME. Refresh your memory regarding which items your city or town allows for curbside recycling. Start adding items to your bin that you normally haven’t recycled. Remind your family, friends and coworkers to recycle.

FIRST FRIDAYS ECUMENICAL SMALL GROUP. On the first Friday of each month, 7:00pm, Fireside Room, Pastoral Outreach Center. Join other Christians, both Catholic and non-Catholic for an informal faithsharing discussion time after the monthly ecumenical Taizé prayer service. The topic varies each month and no advanced knowledge or experience is necessary. This is a great way to get to know fellow Christians as well as grow in your own faith. Note: We will still meet on March 2, even though there is no Taizé service in March. Information, Patrick Barredo, 206-382-4515.

THANK YOU FROM THE CATHEDRAL KITCHEN. Thanks to Pagliacci Pizza for providing delicious pizza on Thursday, February 15. With your help we served more than 180 dinner guests. Thanks also to Macrina Bakery for supplying dinner rolls for our Ash Wednesday Simple Supper.

HAVE YOU DRIFTED AWAY FROM YOUR CATHOLIC FAITH? Do you have a desire to return to your faith, and to the sacraments? Come join our Cathedral Welcome Back team for a single session. We’ll listen to your needs, and offer ways you can deepen your understanding of your own Catholic faith …. whether in the context of a daytime group, an evening series, or even an individual meeting. Single sessions will be Monday afternoon, March 12, from 3:00–4:30 pm, OR Monday evening, March 12, from 7:00–8:30 pm., in Cathedral Place, 803 Terry. Information, Rosanne Michaels, 206-654-4658.

PILGRIMS TO ITALY. You have one last chance to collect your pilgrimage gear, following the 10:00am Mass today. Come to the Cathedral Chapel to pick up your packet!

Join a pilgrimage of prayer

From February 28-March 8, some 254 Cathedral parishioners and choristers will join Father Ryan on a pilgrimage to Florence, Siena, Assisi, and Rome. Father Ryan and the pilgrims will be praying for our entire parish community each step along the journey, and especially at each of the six pilgrim Masses.

Please join in this pilgrimage of prayer by submitting your own prayer intention online. All intentions will be included in a book that will be carried along and placed near the altar at each Mass celebrated along the way.

Visit the pilgrimage page and submit your intention by February 27.

PARISH REMEMBRANCE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we pray for the parish of Holy Disciples in Puyallup and the mission church of St. Yves in Harmony.
