WELCOME SUMMER VISITORS! St. James Cathedral is proud to welcome visitors from near and far throughout the summer months. Each week a drawing for a Cathedral gift will be made from among all the visitor envelopes used. Please write your address on the visitor envelope provided in the pew and drop it with your offering into the collection basket. Please join us as we gather together six decades (1960-2015) of St. Therese Alumni for an afternoon of fun, food and nostalgia. St. Therese Catholic Academy, Saturday, September 12, 12-5pm. Information, visit www.sttheresereunion.info. ST VINCENT DE PAUL THANKS YOU. We visited a woman living in a building known for its bed bugs. When the bugs infested her room, the landlord threw out her bed and many personal belongings. Even worse, the woman told us that her adult children had stopped visiting and refused to let her into their homes to see her beloved grandchildren–they feared she would bring bed bugs. The good news is her room is now “bed bug free,” so we promised a new bed and, at her request, joined hands and prayed that her broken family can now be healed. Your support made this possible–thank you! Information, Barb Schmidt, 206-938-8696. CATHEDRAL CHOIR AUDITIONS. Do you love to sing? Do you possess music reading skills? The Cathedral Choir of St. James welcomes singers to audition for the 2015-2016 season. Join a group of dedicated musicians in singing a body of sacred music that spans more than 1000 years. Auditions are held by appointment with the director of music. Please contact the music office, 206-382-4874, to set up your audition. MINISTRY DISCERNMENT WORKSHOP will be held at St. Therese Parish from 10:00am to Noon on Saturday, August 29. Join others to explore your call to ministry. We’ll meet in the St. Therese living room and hear about the different stages of discipleship and reflect on the particular gifts God is calling you to share with others. The morning of scripture study, prayer, and small group discussion is sponsored by Cabrini Ministry Training and will be facilitated by Jean Clancy, CMT alum, and Carla Loucks, CMT Executive Director. Free of charge, but donations accepted. RSVP to info@cabriniministry.org.
PARISH REMEMBRANCEE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we remember in prayer the parishes of Queen of Heaven in Tacoma, Queen of Angels in Port Angeles, Our Day of Good Help in Hoquiam, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Everett.
