WELCOME! If you are a visitor to the Cathedral, we want you to know how welcome you are – whether you have come from another part of the country, from across the world, or simply from another parish here in the Archdiocese. Thanks, in part, to the generosity of visitors like you, we are able to celebrate the Church’s liturgy here in a fitting and beautiful way. We are also able to offer a wide range of services to needy people living in the central district of our city.

FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR are offered in thanksgiving for Dean Mbuzi and Brian Thompson, ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Sartain on Saturday, September 6. If you would like to offer flowers in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special event, please contact Jane Mueller, 206-654- 4646 or jmueller@stjames-cathedral.org.

SEEKING A FEW MORE DONATIONS FOR OUR HUNTHAUSEN AUCTION This annual event benefits the Cathedral Kitchen, raising thousands of dollars each year. Last year, we raised $99,000! Also, even if you don’t golf, please consider joining us for dinner! Information, Maria Laughlin, 206-382-4284 or e-mail mlaughlin@stjames-cathedral.org.

CALLING ALL FAITH FORMATION FAMILIES We are inviting you to bring cards, notes, or artworks of thanksgiving for Lita McBride to Faith Formation registration on September 7, 14, and 21 in Cathedral Hall. Lita has faithfully served as the leader of Children’s Faith Formation for many years and she has been a blessing to our community. Please take this opportunity to show your appreciation for all she has done for the families of our parish.

FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS We are delighted to launch a new ministry for children with special needs in the fall. Children will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a teen faith mentor from our Youth Ministry every Sunday morning during the faith formation hour. This allows for individualized faith instruction and ensures full inclusion in our parish community. This model was developed by Deacon Larry Sutton, a psychologist who specializes in autism who will provide training for our youth and families. To register your child, please contact Theresa Van de Ven at tvandeven@stjames-cathedral.org. To volunteer as a teen faith mentor, please contact Joe Cotton at jcotton@stjames-cathedral.org.

PARISH REMEMBRANCE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we remember in prayer the communities of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta in Woodinville, St. Rose of Viterbo in Longview, and St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Church in Seattle.
