Please write your address on the visitor envelope provided in the pew and drop it with your offering into the collection basket. Thank you for adding to the power of our prayer by your presence in our midst today. Last week, we had visitors from Waterloo, IN; Ellwood City, PA; Quezon City, Philippines; and many other places.

FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS We are delighted to launch a new ministry for children with special needs in the fall. Children will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a teen faith mentor from our Youth Ministry every Sunday morning during the faith formation hour. This allows for individualized faith instruction and ensures full inclusion in our parish community. This model was developed by Deacon Larry Sutton, a psychologist who specializes in autism who will provide training for our youth and families. To register your child, please contact Theresa Van de Ven at tvandeven@stjames-cathedral.org. To volunteer as a teen faith mentor, please contact Joe Cotton at jcotton@stjames-cathedral.org .

OPERATION NIGHTWATCH St. James cooks for Operation Nightwatch, a homeless assistance center on Capitol Hill, the first and third Tuesdays of the month. We need volunteers to help make sandwiches from 5:00 to 6:30pm, and another to cook the meal on third Tuesdays anytime from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Have you ever dreamed of learning to cook for 150 people? Please consider this very important and rewarding ministry. Training and all supplies included. Information, Mary Nichols 206-420-8788.

IMMIGRANT CHILDREN ON THE BORDER The crisis of immigrant children coming into the United States has been much in the news. Bishop Eusebio Elizondo, chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Refugees and Immigrants, will speak on the current situation, his own personal experience observing what happens when children are sent back, the position of the Church, and how we can respond. Thursday, August 28, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, St. Mary’s Church, 611 20th Ave South, Seattle.

PARISH REMEMBRANCE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we remember in prayer the communities of Assumption in Seattle and Bellingham, and Mary, Queen of Peace in Sammamish.
