WELCOME! St. James Cathedral is proud to welcome visitors from near and far throughout the summer months. Each week a drawing for a special Cathedral gift will be made from among all the visitor envelopes used. Please write your address on the visitor envelope provided in the pew and drop it with your offering into the collection basket. Thank you for adding to the power of our prayer by your presence in our midst today.

Also, we have James Martin, SJ’s new book Jesus: A Pilgrimage in stock.Visitors, stop by for a CD, mug, postcard, or other souvenir of your visit to St. James Cathedral!

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL As Father Ryan reminded us last weekend, we have now met the goal set for us by the Archbishop for this year’s Annual Catholic Appeal. But we are still $110,401 short of reaching our goal for the parish rebate. And 68% of our parish households have not yet responded. If you have not yet made a gift, please consider doing so today. The need is urgent as we rely on the rebate to meet our expenses as a parish. This year’s rebate will support our outreach ministries as well as our new ministry to young adults. To make your pledge online, visit www.seattlearchdiocese.org/aca.

RICE BOWL RESULTS This Lent, we surpassed the entire Archdiocese in donations to the Rice Bowl. You donated $19,061.26, an increase of 31% from last year! Thank you for your extraordinary generosity to the poorest in our world. A special thanks to all the children who participated. You made a difference!

MASS FOR DECEASED BISHOPS This Thursday, June 26, at 5:30pm, all are invited to the annual Mass for the Deceased Bishops and Archbishops of Seattle. Each year on the anniversary of the death of Archbishop Thomas Murphy, we remember in prayer the shepherds who have led the Archdiocese of Seattle through the years. Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo will preside. All are welcome.

THE CATHEDRAL KITCHEN  would like to thank Horizon House for their donations of sandwiches and green salads. We included them in our meals on June 12 and 19. They were enjoyed by our many dinner guests.

ARE YOU A REGULAR AT THE SATURDAY 5:30PM MASS? If you regularly attend the Saturday evening Mass, please consider getting involved as a liturgical minister. We are especially in need of communion ministers. Confirmed Catholics who are registered in the Cathedral parish are encouraged to consider this important ministry. Training and preparation are provided. Information, Corinna Laughlin, claughlin@stjames-cathedral.org or 206-622-3559 x3996.

SUMMER ICON SERIES Do you wonder what the picture is that is carried in at the beginning of Mass? Come to the Chapel directly after the 10:00am Mass or Noon Mass on June 28, July 5 and July 12 to find out. We will explore the icons of Saints Peter and Paul, the Triumphal Entry and St. James. Each session will last 15 minutes. Information, Brenda Bellamy, bbellamy@stjames-cathedral.org.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOD’S BLESSINGS to Angelina Mercer, Peter Mercer, Kristen Preble and Roxxana Ramsey, who made professions of faith as Catholics and received the Sacrament of Confirmation and First Communion. Congratulations also go to Michelle Monderer and Michael Yahia, who completed the sacraments of initiation by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and First Communion.

The event will take place Monday, September 15, at the Newcastle Golf Club. We are seeking auction items such as dinner gift certificates, event tickets (cultural or sporting events), and bottles of wine. If you have something you’d like to share, please call or e-mail. PARISH REMEMBRANCE: Throughout the year, because we are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This week we remember in prayer the parish communities of Blessed Sacrament in Seattle, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Sedro Woolley, and Immaculate Heart of Mary in Kelso.
