WELCOME, SUMMER VISITORS! St. James Cathedral is proud to welcome visitors from near and far throughout the summer months. Each week a drawing for a special Cathedral gift will be made from among all the visitor envelopes used. Please write your address on the visitor envelope provided in the pew and drop it with your offering into the collection basket. Thank you for adding to the power of our prayer by your presence in our midst today. Last week, we had visitors from Columbus, OH; Atlanta, GA; Biloxi, MS, and many other places. The winner of our drawing was from Lake Oswego, OR.

FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR are from the Saturday wedding of Erin Acacio and Ryan Phillips.

MENTAL HEALTH MINISTRY NEWS. Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is an evidence-based group intervention for those with mental health challenges. WRAP guides participants through the process of identifying and understanding their personal wellness resources (“wellness tools”) and then helps them develop an individualized plan to use these resources on a daily basis to manage their mental health. Helen Nilon, Executive Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness, and Advanced Facilitator for WRAP Training, will present a 60-minute overview of WRAP on Sunday, August 25 at 11:15am in the Gallagher Center. Helen will lead an eight-week WRAP Workshop at St. James beginning in September. Visit the Gallagher Center on August 25 to learn about WRAP! Information, Nancy Granger, RN, MSN 206-382-4269.

FAITH IS A VERB… Faith grows as we express it in service to others. Our faith becomes deeper and more active as we respond by facing our own personal needs and the needs of others. How are you actively called to faith? Consider what might be open to you in a variety of volunteer ministry needs and opportunities—including work with all age groups and in many capacities. Some take a little time and some a bit more. Thanks for opening your heart to our volunteer needs–the growth in faith and the joy of serving others cannot be measured in human terms. Information, Shirley Adler, 206-407-1798.

THE ST VINCENT DE PAUL CONFERENCES of St. James thank Cathedral parishioners for their generous donations last month. During July we made 68 home visits to our low income neighbors. Your contributions allowed us to help individuals and families pay their rent and stay safely in their homes. In addition, we prevented 7 utility shut-offs, provided food for 47 families, beds and furniture for 13 households, clothes for 8 people, and transportation assistance for 11 individuals. Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society show our commitment through person-toperson contact, making our home visits in pairs. Please consider joining our ministry. Information, Rob Millar 206-954-8902 and Tammy Bendix 206-595-9158.
