Jenna Serghini, MPA/MAIS, is
currently serving the St James ESL Program as a Literacy*AmeriCorps
member. Jenna found her way to Seattle from Missoula, MT because
to Montanans, Seattle is the big city, even if it is 10 hours away.
Jenna grew up across the United States, in Minnesota, North Carolina,
and most recently, Montana. She also spent two years in Morocco as
a student. Jenna has volunteered in a variety of capacities from
working with refugee youth, to teaching English to Moroccans in Morocco,
to tutoring Arabic to high-school students in Seattle. Jenna first
became involved with the St James ESL Program during the internship
component of her MPA program at the University of Washington. This
experience led her to seek to be a Literacy*AmeriCorps member serving
here. While Jenna has always been interested in the state of the
immigrant and refugee community, that interest increased when she
married an immigrant herself. Jenna and her husband are enjoying
all the Northwest has to offer. She goes camping and she goes to
Linux club meetings at the Library.
