Job Opening for Tenor Section Leader

September 13, 2018

St. James Cathedral, Seattle, has an immediate opening for one tenor section leader for the Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Cantorei. There are regular Thursday rehearsals (7:30-9:30 pm) and Sunday morning Masses (9:00am call for 10:00am Mass) from September through May. Cantorei also sings for extra liturgies, including Readings and Carols, and an annual New Year’s Eve concert. Availability during Christmas and Easter weeks is essential. Solo opportunities may arise throughout the season for which each Cantorei member is expected to audition. During the summer months, an octet from Cantorei provides the music for each Sunday 10:00am and 12:00pm Mass.

The successful applicant will have a flexible voice that is comfortable singing a wide range of choral repertoire (including Renaissance polyphony that requires minimal vibrato), the ability to blend within an ensemble, excellent sightreading skills, and a personable and professional attitude suitable to acting as a choral leader to volunteers.

Pay is very competitive. For more information and to apply for an audition, please contact Joseph Adam, Director of Music, at jadam@stjames-cathedral.org. For more information about music at St. James, please visit www.stjames-cathedral.org/music.
