Jonathan Dimmock
Paris: Between the Wars

Organist Jonathan Dimmock is well-known internationally as a recitalist, accompanist, ensemble musician, non-profit founder and writer. A graduate of Oberlin and Yale, he has the unique privilege to have been the only American Organ Scholar of Westminster Abbey; he has also served three American cathedrals: St. John the Divine (New York), St. Mark’s (Minneapolis), and Grace (San Francisco). Jonathan lives in San Francisco, where, for over twelve years, he was Music Director at St. Ignatius Church (the largest Jesuit church in the United States) and where he is currently Principal Organist at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, Organist for the San Francisco Symphony, Director of Music at Congregation Sherith Israel, Organ Instructor at Sonoma State University, and a regular freelance performer. He is one of the few organists in the world to tour on six continents.

Crista Miller

Hailed by Gramophone Magazine for her “superlative artistry,” “effortless virtuosity and musical intelligence,” Crista Miller is the Director of Music and Organist at Houston’s Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, where she led the Organ Committee responsible for Pasi’s Opus 19 pipe organ. She leads a growing music organization; directs the Schola Cantorum, Cor Jesu and children’s choirs; and oversees the concert series.

As solo organist, Dr. Miller has performed in Lebanon, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, and Canada, and in 20 states of the USA, and is an award-winner in international and national playing competitions (Odense; Fort Wayne; San Antonio; semi-finalist in AGO’s National Young Artists’ Competition in Organ Playing). Her 2014-15 Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance and the City of Houston created three organ and visual arts programs, leading to a recording with Acis Productions, the double-CD Bonjour and Willkommen: A Franco-German Debut, is available now. The “ambitious nature” of this project was noted by International Organists’ Review as “admirable and [a] very good advocate for the performer.”

The Esoterics: Leonard Bernstein Centennial
with Joseph Adam, Cathedral Organist

The Esoterics is excited to return to St. James Cathedral to celebrate the life and work of the remarkable American composer Leonard Bernstein, on what would have been his 100th birthday. The ensemble will be joined by Cathedral Organist Joseph Adam to present all of Bernstein’s sacred vocal and choral works in English, Latin, French, and Hebrew, including Chichester Psalms, Missa brevis, selections from his Mass and Kaddish, Hashkiveinu, Yigdal, and Psalm 148.
