Schola Cantorum Choir Camp 2008

August 11-15

Choir Camp 2007

Our two training choirs, ages 6-9 are full. Feel free to contact Clint Kraus to have your name put on our waiting list. We do still have spaces available for young singers ages 10-14.

The Schola Cantorum Choir Camp is designed to develop full and active participation in the liturgy through singing. Led by the region’s finest Catholic music educators, this week-long camp for young singers ages 6-14 (treble voices) provides excellent training in liturgical music. Students learn how to sing, and develop and grow their skills in music fundamentals including rhythm and pitch. The Choir Camp hours are from 9:00am until 4:00pm. Priority will be given to students who commit to participating in our Youth Music Program in the 08-09 school year.

Resident Ensembles to perform at St. James

In addition to the Cathedral’s own choirs, several leading community choruses are named as "Resident Ensembles." The Cathedral is able, through this program, to provide rehearsal room, publicity, performance opportunities, and recording space as an encouragement to exceptional local choirs that regularly program sacred masterpieces. See our event calendar for the details.

The Resident Ensembles for 2007-2008 are:
Seattle Academy of Baroque Opera, Stephen Stubbs, artistic director
Opus 7, Loren Pontén, director
Seattle Pro Musica, Karen P. Thomas, artistic director and conductor
Medieval Women's Choir, Margriet Tindemans, director
Pacific Northwest Viols, Charlie Nagel, president
"Fil-Am" Filipino Liturgical Choir, Carmen Pelayre, director
