Saint Therese, the Little Flower

My name is Thérèse (that’s French for Teresa). I’m also called the ‘Little Flower.’ I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a nun. I became a Carmelite sister at age 15! I knew I couldn’t do any big heroic things to show my love for Jesus. But I could do lots of little things—I could be kind to people, even those who weren’t kind to me, I could be patient and gentle and helpful, and I could pray. I called this my little way to heaven. It’s straight, it’s short, and it leads directly to God!

Saint Thérèse, pray for us! Help us to follow your ‘little way’ to God by being patient and kind in all the ‘little’ difficulties of our daily lives.
