They call me Peter. That’s the name Jesus gave me! It means rock, because Jesus wants me to be strong, someone you can rely on. I haven’t always been that way. On the night Jesus was betrayed, I got scared and ran away. I even denied that I knew Jesus. Then the cock crowed, and I remembered that Jesus was my friend. Then I wept! But Jesus rose from the dead. He forgave me and strengthened me, and made me the rock on which he built the Church!

Saint Peter, pray for us! Help us to be steadfast and strong, people that others can rely on. And when we fail, give us your tears to wash away our sins in Jesus’ love.
