ESL Tutoring

ESL students at St. James Immigrant Assistance actively participate in their English language learning through one-to-one tutoring or small group instruction.

Citizenship Classes & Tutoring

Clients at St. James Immigrant Assistance learn U.S. civics and history, through individual tutoring or group instruction, in preparation for their United States Naturalization Exam.

ESL & CITIZENSHIP Tutoring Services FAQ

Who is Eligible?
Low-income refugees or immigrants living in King County who are at least 18 years of age.

Who are the tutors?
All St. James ESL Program tutors are volunteers who have received pre-service tutor training.

Where is the tutoring?
St. James ESL offers accessible instruction throughout King County. Off-site locations include spaces provided by our community partners.

What time is tutoring?
Tutoring schedules are determined by student, tutor and staff.


St. James Immigrant Assistance is recognized & accredited by the U.S. Department of Justice Board of Immigration Appeals.

St. James Immigrant Assistance helps clients complete their citizenship applications, disability waivers, and gather all other necessary documents. Elder Integration

St. James Immigrant Assistance offers older refugees and immigrants an opportunity to connect with their peers, become more involved in the local community, and learn about civics, emergency preparations, health issues and services, and community attractions..
