Blessing of seniors and luncheon in the
parlors &
Fireside Chat with Father Joseph Doogan

Seventy-eight senior parishioners gathered after a special 12:10
Mass in the Cathedral for a luncheon in the rectory parlors.

Surrounded by portraits of Seattle's bishops in the parlor.

Two of our longest term parishioners: Rose Circo (49 years)
and Mike McKay (70+ years)! The total number of years this
group of seniors has been in the Cathedral parish: 1,592 years
and 4 months!!

In the evening, we gathered in Cathedral Hall for a "Fireside
Chat" with Father Joseph Doogan, a treasure of the Archdiocese of
Seattle. Father Doogan was ordained in 1948 in St. James
Cathedral and continues to be active at the Archdiocesan Tribunal
and Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He knows the history of the
Catholic Church in Western Washington from inside out.
Read the text of Father Doogan's presentation
here.

Father Doogan spoke about Bishop O'Dea (shown here with his
secretary and chancellor, Msgr. Theodore Ryan--first native
Seattleite to be ordained a priest). "Bishop O'Dea was a
visionary. He had a great love for the people and especially
the children... He died as he lived, with God's blessings on his
lips."

Thank you, Father Doogan! We look forward to hearing more of
the saga as we continue our celebration of our Centennial.
