Choir Camp
Another year of Choir Camp begins!  We put on our cool camp T's and headed
to the Chapel for Morning Prayer.

Choir Camp
Every day begins with prayer.

Choir Camp
August 15 is a special feast in honor of the Assumption of Mary.
Father Ryan talked to us about the meaning of this special day.

Choir Camp
Back in the choir room, we got to work singing old favorites
and learning some exciting new music!

Choir Camp
Recess in the Courtyard was fun with beach balls...

Choir Camp
...jump ropes...

Choir Camp
...and hula hoops!

Choir Camp
In the afternoon, we broke into small groups.  Some of us practiced processing
into the Cathedral.

Choir Camp
How do these feet line up?

Choir Camp
Other groups worked on Orff instruments with Dr. Savage.
Did you like the "star sound"?

Choir Camp
And the rest worked on diction with Ms. Patella.  Do you remember the meaning of
these words:  alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia?

Choir Camp
See you tomorrow for more music-making!
Special thanks to Christina Smith for fun photos of today!

How is Mary special to you,
or what did you learn about her today?

  • Mary is special in two ways.  My middle name is Mary in Spanish and my first sister’s name is Moira, Mary in Irish.
  • Mary is special to me because she gave us Jesus and I learned that she went to heaven body and soul!
  • I can’t really describe it in many words but she is really stellar and awesome.  I also learned that Mary is like the star of saints.
  • I learned her name in a different language.
  • Mary is special to me because I talk to her when I’m said and I have a relationship with her because my middle name is Regina (Queen in Latin).
  • I learned that Mary is the star and that she was so special to God that her body and soul were brought up to heaven.  Mary is special to me because she is mother of everyone.
  • I learned that her body and soul had already become one in heaven.  And I also feel that Mary is special to me because she conquered more than any other woman did then and I feel that she is a saint that always listens to my prayers.
  • She’s not like other saints – she is more special, like in the picture she sat higher up than the other saints.
  • Mary is special to me because we thank her through music which is very special and fun.
  • Mary is special to me because she is such an inspiration to all moms.
  • Mary is special to me because she stayed strong through her life.
  • There are a lot of songs about her and I don’t know how she is special to me.
  • Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns.
  • I learned that she was a remarkable woman and that the reason she’s special to us is because she is God’s Mother.
  • Two of my sisters names have the name Mary.
  • I learned that instead of just her soul going up to heaven, Mary’s body and soul went to heaven because she was a really special saint and person.  I also learned that “Ave Maris Stella” means “Mary Star of the Sea.”
  • There are many ways Mary is special to me.  Here are two of the many.  She is always there no matter where you are.  Another is that she’s the mother of Jesus Christ.
  • I learned Mary is a star.
  • She is special in different kinds of ways.
  • I learned that Mary was so special she came up to heaven body and soul.
  • I learned that Mary is called a Star.
  • That Mary is very special and a star.
  • She was a saint, a special saint.  (In the picture, she’s higher than the other saints.)
  • I learned that Mary is more than you think.
  • Mary is special because she was the first and put blind faith in something she wasn’t sure about.  She is a  model, thus of two things that shape human perfection:  modesty and trust.
  • I look up and pray to Mary every day and ask her for help and for help in tough decisions.
  • She is special because she is the mother of Jesus.
  • She is special to me because she is one of the most holy women besides God.
  • I’ve learned she is a very special person and how important she is in God’s kingdom.
  • Mary is a star and the one and only special mother of Jesus.
  • I learned that Mary is higher than all the saints in heaven and was already resurrected, for her body was with her soul in heaven.
  • Mary is special because she is the mother of Jesus.  She is extremely amazing and is a wonderful starry throne for Jesus.
  • Mary is special to me because she was perfect and she said yes to God and she is an amazing role model for me and for all women.  Today I learned that Mary went to heaven body and soul.
  • That you can say her name differently in different languages.
  • She is special to me because I ask her to help me find important things, and she does help me.  And sometimes if I have a problem I go to her, and in the middle of prayer I know what to do.
  • Mary is special to me because she’ someone I can turn to when I feel frustrated, or sad, or just don’t know what to do.
  • Mary is special to me because 1) we have the same name and 2) she has extremely unique qualities.
  • Mary is special because without her there would have been no Jesus and what I learned that she went up to heaven with her soul AND body.
  • That she is a star, not literally a star in the sky but that she is special.
  • Mary is special to me because she is very comforting and you can tell her whatever you want and she’ll listen.
  • Mary is special because she is a star and she’s the mother of God.
