CHOIR CAMP 2010

Message from Ms. Sunde:

I never thought it was possible to end the day more energized and excited than at the beginning, but today you showed me that that's possible.  I'm thrilled with how quickly you have become a choir and how well you are already listening to each other.  I'm very grateful for the way that the choristers from last year are welcoming the new singers.  I look forward to our day tomorrow.  We have a lot of work to do because we have a little concert tomorrow, and there's a lot to do to get ready for that!  As I told you this morning, this WILL be the best Schola Cantorum Choir Camp we've ever had.  Ta-da!  Ms. Sunde

Pictures for today
Special thanks to Miss Laughlin and Ms Patella for photos!

Choir Camp 2010 Monday
Another year of Choir Camp begins!  After putting on our cool camp T's, we processed through the courtyard to the Cathedral Chapel to begin our week with prayer.  Ms Sunde and Dr Savage lead the way!

Father Ryan led us in Morning Prayer.  He was amazed at how well we sang the Angel Hymn.  "Heaven is still with glory ringing, earth takes up the angel's cry!"

We are learning a new song about Mary as we prepare to sing for the 10:00am Mass this Sunday, which is a special feast day:  the Assumption of Mary.  This song alternates between English and Latin.

I'm kinda disappointed that we're not doing Daniel in the Lion's Den, but today was fun.  Hmm, that's 20 words.

My favorite moment today was...
  • Singing
  • Diction
  • Singing Psalm 150 with the organist playing for the very first time
  • The obstacle course in the gym
  • When we went to the gym
  • Using the bells
  • The obstacle course
  • Obstacle course
  • Singing all the new songs and making new friends
  • Orff, because we got to play the xylophones
  • Orff, diction, singing, and bells classes
  • When I sang Ave Maria
  • Orff was pretty fun
  • In the morning, when everyone was hugging and catching up and meeting new campers
  • When we did diction with Ms Patella
  • Learning how to trust each other, singing solos, knowing names
  • I really liked today's reading the most
  • When Dr. Savage was teaching us how to play the bells
  • When we did the individual voice critiquing with Ms Sunde
  • Doing the xylophone
  • Doing the PE challenge
  • Ringing the bells
  • I really liked it when we began to sing, how I learned new strategies
  • The first song we sang
  • I liked snack time and diction class
  • Ms Sunde asking for a request and no one answered, but I had flipped to Personet Hodie, giggling stupidly, and Ms Sunde said, "She wants to sing Personet Hodie!" It was kinda silly.
  • The diction class, because Ms Patella made it fun, even though learning diction isn't usually fun.
  • Playing instruments with Ms Settle
  • The diction class
  • Lunch
  • Playing bells with Dr. Savage
