In November, 2004, St. James Cathedral launched a three-year centennial
celebration, marking the centennial of three great moments in our history:
the founding of the Cathedral Parish (November 13, 1904), the laying of the
cornerstone (November 12, 1905), and the dedication of the Cathedral (December
22, 1907). Click here to explore past events,
including Masses, building projects, ecumenical and interfaith prayer, and much

December 22-23, 2007 Conclusion of the Centennial Year
On December 22, 1907, Bishop Edward J. O’Dea dedicated this great Cathedral
Church on First Hill. On Saturday, December 22, 2007, at the 5:30pm Mass,
we gather with Archbishop Brunett to mark the 100th anniversary of the
dedication of this great house of prayer and the conclusion of our three-year
Centennial celebration. The Mass will be followed by a festive reception.
The celebration will continue at all Masses on the weekend of December 22-23.
