feet, not coats or lifeless branches or shoots of trees

Oh, yes! the
vestments are white and gold, the organ peals, the candles flame...
but the heart remembers that the Meat and Wine upon the board have been made possible only by the death of the Lamb whom we love.… |
There is no
sacrifice on this day, for all is sacrifice. There is no need for
the Holy Ghost to come down, to make the Body of the Son, and touch
the Father's Heart, for to-day all the world is Calvary.
