In a wonderful sense of déjà vu, St. James Cathedral is pleased to welcome back Mary Ann Millican as the director of development. Mary Ann originally joined the Cathedral staff as the first development director when the position was created in 1996.

With her help, the Cathedral successfully completed the campaigns to fund the Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy Millennium Organ and launched the first Archbishop Raymond G. Hunthausen Golf Tournament. Also “In Your Midst,” this quarterly journal about our parish community, was first published in those days.

In 1998 Mary Ann left the Seattle area to accept a position as Vice President for Advancement at Mount Marty College in South Dakota where she directed a $30 million capital campaign for the college and initiated an integrated marketing program that stimulated a 25 percent increase in admissions for the school.

I hope that my work in the development program will continue to help friends and parishioners discover personally new ways to invest in the mission and ministries of the Cathedral and answer God’s call to stewardship.”
