During the Year of Prayer and Renewal, monthly bulletin inserts helped us take our prayer out of the Cathedral into our homes.  Click on one of the links below to download suggested prayers for each month.

Prayer does not make us less involved in the world. On the contrary, nothing is more responsible than to pray. The more we make our own a prayer which is simple and humble, the more we are led to love and to express it with our life.

Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.
Tend your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ, rest your weary ones, bless your dying ones, soothe your suffering ones, shield your joyous ones, and all for your love’s sake. Amen.

A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, Nor deprive me of your holy spirit. O rescue me, God my helper, and my tongue shall ring out your goodness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare your praise.

While you are working, while you sleep, while you are on a journey, while you eat, while you drink or are resting, do not cease to pray. Don’t wait until Sunday comes, or a feast day or a holy day, or a visit to church, but, as the prophet David said, pray in any place on earth.

Holy Mary, Mother of God... show us Jesus. Lead us to him. Teach us to know and love him, so that we too can become
capable of true love and be fountains of living water
in the midst of a thirsting world.

Loving mother of the Redeemer, gate of heaven, star of the sea, assist your people who have fallen yet strive to rise again.
To the wonderment of nature, you bore your Creator,
yet remained a virgin after as before.
You who received Gabriel’s joyful greeting,
have pity on us poor sinners.

Gracious God,
for one hundred years you have blessed this Cathedral parish.
We give thanks to you for the countless men and women
whose prayer in the name of Jesus Christ
has made this a holy place.
Be with us during this year of Prayer and Renewal.
Help us to walk in Jesus Christ,
faithful to the promises of our baptism.
As we gather Sunday after Sunday around the table of your Son,
may we grow together in faith, hope, and love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
