Youth Migrant Project

Remember the time of hunger in the time of plenty,
poverty and want in the day of wealth.
Sirach 18:25

The Youth Migrant Project, formally a program of the Archdiocese of Seattle, runs from June-August every year in the Skagit Valley.  In 2008, St. James sent its first group of teens along with youth from St. Mary’s, St. George’s, St. Edward’s, and St. Paul’s.  The youth volunteered in daycare centers, visited migrant camps, worked the fields, learned about the lives of the migrant workers, and played and prayed together.  Last July, the second year of mission trekkers headed up for another week of service and learning.  To read the blog and see pictures from the trip, from 2008 click here.
