Album: Simbang Gabi

December 10, 2011

Please be patient; photos may take a moment or two to download.

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, hundreds from across the Archdiocese of Seattle gathered in the Cathedral for our annual Simbang Gabi celebration.  Simbang Gabi is a novena of Masses leading up to the celebration of Christmas.  Today at the Cathedral, the coordinators of Simbang Gabi in parishes all over western Washington were commissioned by Archbishop Sartain.

Festive parols, symbolized the light of Christ, are carried in procession.

During the Gloria, parols pour from the oculus.

Everyone gazes up in delight!

After the homily, Archbishop Sartain commissions the Simbang Gabi coordinators and blesses their colorful parols.

A beautiful cloth is spread over the altar for the celebration of the Eucharist.

During the gifts procession, Archbishop Sartain is presented with a parol of his own.
